I already have a thing for this 22 year-old from his work with The xx and their remix of “You Got The Love”, but his solo performance on Tuesday night turned that into a full-fledged crush. Read about it here, and listen to “New York Is Killing Me” - my favorite of his work with Gil Scott-Heron - while you do so.
One of the things that I like the most about this remix is that Adele’s vocals are given a little more room to really shine on the chorus. I mean, her voice! I want it to give me a hug! So yeah, thanks to Coley for this gem. Gonna go dance-cry to this in the shower now.

Madonna’s 1994 appearance on Letterman is famously known for being the most censored episode in talk-show history. This was sent 12 days later.

To my oldest and dearest friend: Happy birthday! I’m so grateful to have you as my shoulder to lean on, and yes, it does help that you’re just the right size to do so. In seriousness, I love you like a sister (and not in the way we said so when we were 13). My chaise lounge is your chaise lounge, forever and always. This one goes out to you.
#LawLOL at this article in SF Weekly about a recent drug raid gone wrong. I was with Freshman on this until his quote at the very end. Let the kids go to college, man.

I’m both wary and curious about this biography and will probably cave and buy it. You should know that I consider “A Perfect Day For A Bananafish” one of the greatest short stories of all time.

Watch Tyler the Creator’s terrifying performance on Fallon here. Sup, Mos Def.

I talked to the duo about the series’ slow mutation into a genre of it’s own… and luvstep babies.

My buddies Skinny Friedman and Sammy Bananas threw together this “Thug Lovin” mix for me a few days ago in celebration of a post-Valentines Player’s Club. (And, I suspect, just to have a reason to make an image of cupid with an ice cream cone face tat.) The party is more like a weekly all-friends hang at Pianos, where you’re promised raps and whatever the dudes are feeling like at the moment. It’s the type of place where Skinny will play a song only to rip his headphones off and talk to you about who produced it, or where Sammy will patiently listen to some girl’s request to play Ke$ha, and then have more fun than anyone else dancing to it. Normal stuff.
This Wednesday (2/16), we’ll be posted up for something slightly different, though. Smooth jams, sexy raps and well, thug lovin. Where we’ll appreciate Killa Cam’s affinity for pink and the softer side of our favorite thugs. See you there.

Magically scored first balcony, first row tickets to LCD Soundsystem’s last ever show (with Liquid Liquid!) at MSG in April. It’s like the Internet knew I was having a rough week and thought, “You give a us a lot, Puja. We’re going to give you this one. Love, Internet.”

Recap of last night’s Switchboard event at Ace Hotel, in which I forget to mention Nick’s very strange dubstep remix of Genuwine’s “Pony”. (I love that song in any form.)
So reads the headline of this week’s cover story of Village Voice. Can’t say that I’m fully behind them here. While I do agree that many women our age, especially in this city, claim to know what they want but are unwilling to settle down yet (or settle period), I have a hard time buying the implication that women are constantly looking for something better than what’s available to us. In my opinion, that’s just as much of a cop-out as saying that all men are inherently flawed. (If anything, I bet science could better prove the latter.) Kind of depressing either way, huh?

Recap up on the Voice. I really do want to be her best friend because, you know, she just gets me.

“Let’s party like it’s ‘07-‘08,” wrote my friend Amit in the middle of an email chain that had nothing to do with the Rub. The conversation quickly turned that way, this .gif made an appearance (thanks Sarpy), and now everyone I love is going to Southpaw for the evening. You should too. DJ Ayres + DJ Eleven + Cosmo Baker = the best dance party in New York.

Toddla’s filling in for Benji Barrow and will be dropping a brand new exclusive moombahton mix by Nadastrom along with a full interview with Dave Nada, Munchi, Dillon Francis and Matt Nordstrom. Pow!
